"REM"

 

 

On September 16th, the weekend before the Tokyo Game Show, Inafune released his very first novel, called

“REM (Rapid Eye Movement)”.

 

This particular weekend was a special weekend for

a Kishiwada citizen like Inafune himself, because it is the weekend of the annual Kishiwada festival, which is a very

old and traditional festival that every Kishiwada citizen proudly participates in.

 

 

And the fact that Inafune’s first memorable novel came out at this time of the year, made the publish even more special.

 

 

Inafune often talks about how the “concept” is what is essential and most important in creating a content.

 

 

If you have a great concept, the form of output could be anything.

 

 

It could be a novel, it could be a play, a TV drama, a film,

a comic, a manga or it could be a videogame.

 

 

Inafune has created many games while he was at Capcom, but now his arena of challenge has widen.

 

And so here it is, the first novel.

 

Inafune has spent many many hours with Nitoh, the novelist who actually wrote Inafune’s concept into a form of a novel.

 

 

It is a great collaboration of the two creators in the best form.

 

 

I really hope it will be translated into different languages so more people could enjoy.

 

 

There is love, mystery, sci-fi, and drama involved in this story, I hope you can enjoy it in English someday.
